In 2001, the DMYF partnered with Wareham Pediatric Associates, the Wareham Free Library and the Massachusetts ‘Reach-Out-And-Read’ Program to implement a "Well-Child Book Program". This program promotes child literacy by providing age-appropriate books to children at regularly-scheduled well-child doctor visits. In addition, the importance of reading to children is emphasized during conversation with the attending physician. Since it’s inception this program has handed out over 5500 books to area children.
