In 2004, the DMYF established the Let-It-Shine campaign. This program raises funds to directly support the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. In this program, participants are sponsored to "go bald" in support of youth battling cancer. In 2005, 14 participants raised nearly $10,000 for this important intiative. Combined with another $5000 from the DMYF's Foundation Fifty Five Charity Bicycle Ride and members of the Wareham Community Associates Group, the 2005 donation to MGH was inexcess of $15,000. All proceeds go directly to patient care. This year, these funds were donated in memory of Mr. James Frost and Mrs. Ellie Kottman, two outstanding individuals and dear friends of the DMYF recently lost to cancer. The 3rd Annual Dick Melloni Youth Foundation ‘Let-It-Shine’ Fund Raiser will take place at Looks Unlimited Hair Salon, 170 Main St. Wareham, on Saturday, June 10th, 2006.
